Browser Stickies ("we", "the extension") lets you place sticky note reminders on any web page. This page explains exactly what data the extension touches and where it goes.

What we store

Sticky note text — the content you type into each note.
Position — where you placed each note on the page.
Page URL — the address of the page a note belongs to (or the domain, if you toggle "show on every page").
Timestamps — when each note was created.

All of this is stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage APIs, inside your own Chrome profile. It never touches our servers, because we don't have any. If you're signed into Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome may sync this data across your own devices — that's standard Chrome behavior and isn't something Browser Stickies controls.

Optional: Google Tasks integration

If you choose to connect Google Tasks (via the extension's settings), Browser Stickies requests read-only access (tasks.readonly) through Google's OAuth sign-in. We use this solely to read your task titles, notes, and links so we can automatically create matching sticky notes on the pages those tasks reference. We never write to, modify, or delete anything in your Google Tasks account. Task data pulled this way is used to create local stickies in the same chrome.storage described above — it isn't sent anywhere else. This feature is entirely opt-in; if you don't connect Google Tasks, no request to Google is ever made.

What we do NOT do

No analytics or telemetry
No browsing history collection
No cookies or ad tracking
No data sold or shared with any third party
No data sent to any server we operate — we don't run one

Permissions we use, and why

storage — saves your sticky notes so they persist between browser sessions.
activeTab — lets the popup send a message to the current tab when you add a sticky.
contextMenus — provides the right-click "Add Sticky Here" menu option.
identity — used only for the optional Google sign-in when you choose to connect Google Tasks (see above).
alarms — used to periodically check for new/updated Google Tasks (only if you've connected that integration), roughly every few minutes, entirely in the background on your device.
Content script on all URLs — the extension must run on every page so you can place a sticky on any site you visit. The content script only reads the current page's URL to identify which stickies belong there, and renders your saved notes.

Payments

The optional Pro upgrade is handled by ExtensionPay, a third-party payment processor for Chrome extensions. If you upgrade, your payment and account email are handled directly by ExtensionPay/Stripe — we never see or store your payment details ourselves.

Data deletion

Delete any sticky note at any time from the note itself or the extension popup. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data from your Chrome profile. You can revoke the extension's Google access anytime from your Google account permissions page.
